Cleaning FAQs: Answers Before You Book a Cleaner

Do I need to be at home?

Ideally, for the first visit, someone should be there to show the team around. After that, many clients leave keys or gate codes.

How long does a clean take?

A regular clean of a one-bedroom home takes three to four hours. By contrast, a deep clean of a three-bedroom house takes most of a day with a team of three.

What should I do before the cleaners arrive?

First, clear clutter from floors and worktops. Then lock away valuables and make sure water and electricity are on. Also tell the caretaker or guard that cleaners are coming.

What if something is missed?

First, tell the team leader during the walk-through, and they will fix it before leaving. If you notice something later, call us the same day.

Are your products safe for children and pets?

Yes. Our everyday products are safe once dry. We keep children and pets out of rooms while stronger products work, and we can use fragrance-free options for allergies.

Do you use eco-friendly products?

We use concentrated products dosed correctly and microfibre cloths that clean with less chemical. Moreover, we can use plant-based products on request.

Do your cleaners bring equipment?

Yes. For every job, teams bring mops, cloths, vacuums, ladders and, where needed, steam cleaners, extraction machines and floor scrubbers.

How long do I need to stay out after fumigation?

Usually several hours, depending on the product. We confirm the exact time before treatment, and we use only products registered with the Pest Control Products Board. See our fumigation page.

How many visits do bedbugs need?

Usually two visits about two weeks apart. That is because eggs survive the first treatment and hatch later.

How often should a water tank be cleaned?

Generally, every six months for most homes, and every three to four months for borehole or rainwater supply. See water tank cleaning.

What is the difference between regular and deep cleaning?

A regular clean keeps a tidy home in shape: surfaces, floors, kitchens and bathrooms. In contrast, a deep clean reaches inside the oven and fridge, scrubs grout and limescale, cleans skirting boards, doors, high areas and inside cupboards. See our deep cleaning page.

How often should I book a deep clean?

Most homes benefit from a deep clean every six to twelve months, with regular cleaning in between. Homes with children, pets or heavy cooking may need one every three to four months.

Can you clean a home that has been empty for months?

Yes. First, we air the home and remove cobwebs and dust. Next, we flush drains and run taps. Then the normal deep clean follows, and we can send photos if you are away.

Do you clean outside Nairobi?

Yes. We cover nearby towns such as Kiambu, Ruiru, Thika, Kitengela and Machakos, and larger jobs in Mombasa, Nakuru, Kisumu, Eldoret and other towns. See our service areas.

Do you charge extra for travel?

No, not within Nairobi, because travel is included. For towns further away, we include travel time and transport in the quote.

Can you clean several units on the same day?

Yes. Landlords and agents often book several units in one block on the same day. As a result, units are ready for viewings together, and we can send before and after photos for each.

Do you clean common areas in apartment blocks?

Yes. For example, under our janitorial contracts, we clean stairwells, lifts, lobbies, parking and bin areas on a regular schedule. Moreover, supervisors check the work and report to the management committee.
